Dlp Jazz Trumpet Lv.1 £3.99

Users have the ability to control their practice routines and practise at their own pace, working gradually up to each performance tempo and are allowed to isolate and loop any trouble areas of a song . This makes music practice much more fun and productive.

There are 3 Bits and Pieces songs with each version having its own variation of the melody and different backing track. A full, real live jazz combo is there to practice and play with you 24/7.
Bits and Pieces 1, has a range of notes from D to B (trumpet pitch) and is a really cool melody with swing 8s.
Bits and Pieces 2 pushes you to play E to D (trumpet pitch) with a more rhythmically sophisticated melody in a Latin feel with straight 8s.
Bits and Pieces 3, has a Latin straight 8 feel first time through and a cool swing second time. The note range is the same as Bits and Pieces 2 but you are extended because there is a more chromatic flavour to the new melody.

So What: Trumpet Solo played by Miles Davis: £3.99

There are many practice facilities in this app that can be customised to suit individual needs. Of particular value is being able to slow down the solo and the rhythm section accompaniment.
The real time Beat Counter above the notation which where you are in the bar and really helps your reading if you need it.

Miles plays at 135bpm. You can start practising at 65 beats per minute (bpm) and you can add 10bpm until you can play up to the performance speed; bar by bar, phrase by phrase, with or without the recording of the trumpet or rhythm section.
There is no loss of quality at the slower speeds. This will help you keep in tune and to confidently hit the right notes.
When you can play the correct notes perfectly in tune and in time you can then, if you want, imitate the note bends and half valve techniques that Miles uses.

You will also be building up a bank of phrases that you can use in your own solo playing. Copying and studying the greats of the past is an ideal way of learning and gaining the confidence to develop your own style.

Arban Slur Exercises 16 to 22: £2.99

Practising these Arban Slur Exercises is considered to be one of the most useful methods of developing endurance and flexibility.

However, even though this is known to be true, they can also be considered boring. Many find it difficult to maintain the discipline needed to practise them consistently and properly.

eto Music Practice provides the motivation to help you through theses hard hours of practise.

Playing along with the sound of the exercises and the real time Beat Counter keeps you company?as well as in rhythm.

The accompaniment is fun and gives added interest. You can choose to play along to it or switch it off.

Listening to and playing with the audio as you practise helps your tuning; especially if your ?lip? is getting tired.
However the more practice, the stronger the lip muscles, the better your intonation.

The tempo is 70 Beats per minute. A tempo which builds endurance when playing the minims (half notes) and crotchets (quarter notes) and controlled flexibility as the notes get shorter?and more of them!

There is no substitute for hours of fundamental practice. eto can help you put in the hours!

Gaudete: the Soprano Part: £0.99

Gaudete ("rejoice" in Latin) is a sacred Christmas carol, which is thought to have been composed in the 16th century, but could easily have existed as a monophonic hymn in the late medieval period, with the Alto, Tenor, and Bass parts added during the 15th century, particularly due to its Medieval Latin lyrics.
The Latin text is a typical medieval song of praise, which follows the standard pattern for the time - a uniform series of four-line stanzas, each preceded by a two-line refrain.
The electric folk group Steeleye Span had a hit in 1973 (No. 14, UK singles chart) with an a cappella recording of the song.
This single is one of only three top 50 British hits to be sung fully in Latin and is also one of only a handful of a cappella performances to become hit singles.
eto Music Practice gives you the opportunity to practise by learning your part; listening to it played for you on the piano whilst following the Real Time Beat Counter above the music notation.
You can also practise with the other three parts recorded in such a way that you can hear your own part.
When you are confident you can choose to switch your part off and sing with the other parts without any help!
Steeleye Span sing it at a tempo of approx.100 beats per minute. The Kings Singers, who have also recorded it, sing it faster at 130 bpm.
eto Music Practice allows you to initially practise at 90 bpm so that you can practise the Latin words slowly and then build up to the performance speed of your choice; from 90 to 130 bpm.

Arban Single Tonguing Ex. No. 13: £0.99

Often overlooked for the later single tonguing exercises Nos. 13 to 18 have a particular place in the practice repertoire.
The dotted quaver/ semiquaver rhythm (dotted 8th note/ 16th note). is one of the most recurring rhythms in the Trumpet and Cornet repertoire. It appears in countless Marches as well as works by Bach as well as Jazz.
It is vital that the appropriate weight is placed on the respective note values. Indeed such a rhythm played correctly in its particular context adds so much to the performance as a whole.
This app concentrates of the absolute value of each note. Use this and other exercises in the series to gain this control. There will be other 'styles' published to develop control of other styles.
